Turkey with a Mohawk??

I've seen a lot of strange stuff in the turkey woods, but I'll have to say this is a first for me. I am still skeptical, thus why I am asking the group here, and in the words of my 87 year old grandmother, "have you ever seen such a thing?"

I've never before seen a turkey with a "Mohawk".

Although it's possible the shooter has pulled a prank here, I suspect this is for real, as animals (including humans) sometimes grow normal things in the wrong places. Since that appears to be little more than a rudimentary beard growing on that turkey's head rather than his chest, not much different than a woman growing some hair on her chest.

I'd like to see something other then a mount to verify. But turkeys can mutate like everything else, strange to say the least

I know the author, Kyle Orman, and was in a hunting club with him at one point in time. I will contact him and see what he says, albeit, I expect it to be legit as he is a stand up kind of guy.

I know the author and worked with him for years. I doubt he would write anything with with fake photos. Kyle is also a tndeer member, but I haven't seen him post since the new tndeer.

I would have mounted him too. As far as turkeys are concerned, this one is pretty rad!

i saw this bird alive during rifle season the winter before and witnessed the kill on my farm.
