Two recruits have decommited from Vols in the last week?

Old news GNB.

Jackson probably had the thoughts of playing as soon as he got on campus. With the way the talent has developed at TN this year at DE, it probably wasn't going to happen for him as soon as he expected.

Cecil Cherry was recruited over for a better Mike linebacker. Kirkland was wanted from the get go. He committed to UM and so we picked up Cherry. Cherry is a hoss BTW. They shut down recruiting at that position. Cherry decided he wanted to take an OV to Texas that was ill advised by the recruiting staff. He took his OV and then spouted off about Texas being his dream school and he lost his spot. They contacted Kirkland to see if he was still interested and soon after, he de committed from Michigan.

There are a few more freshmen leaving as well.

Tight End Daniel Helm is transferring. Supposedly he is homesick. It has been reported that he was homeschooled and is of strong Christian faith and the college atmosphere kind of overwhelmed him. Nothing against him for wanting to go home. I'm a homebody myself.

RB Derrell Scott is supposed to be transferring to ECU. Another homesick case. He was also reported to be a little frustrated at the coaching staff because he injured his hand in a practice drill? IDK

Defensive End Dewayne Hendrix will transfer as well. He was reported to have more raw talent than Derek Barnett but lacked the mental aspect of the game. Again, he decided he would get more instant playing time elsewhere.

What does all of this mean? It means more spots open and making the numbers work for this years recruiting class.

This shouldn't be surprising. 4 & 5* guys expect to play and play a lot right away. When you are competing for the same position as other 4&5* guys with more experience, playing time is gonna be hard to come by.
The vols will have a second and third string full of superstars that may never see the field.

Meanwhile back at the 3* ranch :pop:

Yes, addition by subtraction but im not so sure that there were any bullets dodged other than the Kirkland Cherry deal. The freshman that left were pretty solid recruits that just didnt work out.

Not this time. As you know I am often sarcastic. But I was thinking about this earlier today. I honestly wonder how many guys that are great football players want to be on a team that has so many other great players that they may never get their chance to show out. It would be HARD to come in as a freshman that is used to being "the man" and have to beat out a class of sophomores like the vols will have next season that are proven warriors.

Ehh...Im still sensing some Mudbone sarcasm.

It happens all over the country. Thats how depth is built but you have to have guys that are willing to stick it out. Not every recruit every cycle works out.

I am sensing a Vandy fan that might like to "anchor down" with the Vol Navy! We're gonna flip you yet Mudbone!!!!

Vols are still in the final 3 schools for two 4 star DE's:this) 1 crystal ball gives them a 75'/, in landing:)
Idk were the vols recruiting class rankes at the moment after a few guys left and all but there saying if the vols land 1 of them 4 star DE's they would more then likely have recruited the best DL Line in the COUNTRY! :) if they haven't already.

It's just business as usual at the top of the recruiting rankings. I'm sure you remember what that was like :rotf: !
