While FSU is hand-picking top prospects from around the Southeast, the recruiting road has been rough lately in Gainesville and Coral Gables.

Florida's recruiting class ranking has dropped four straight years. The 2015 class was the first in a decade that finished with less than 10 percent of its signees ranked in the Rivals100 (9.5 percent). The latest Gator class also had the highest percentage of two- and three-star recruits (66.7 percent) since 2005. And so far under McElwain, the mediocre recruiting is continuing. Florida's 14-member class has just one Rivals100 member (7.1 percent), and 71.4 percent of the group is ranked as a three-star recruit or lower. The Gators' average star rating has also gone down every year since the 3.7-star average for the 2012 class; it is currently at 3.21 (see graphs below).

Can McElwain turn around Florida's recent recruiting struggles?

"It won't be easy for him," Farrell said. "He's a very good coach and a very good player development guy, but we'll see if that can overcome some substandard recruiting classes.

Looks like Florida coaches need to take this serious. There is a small window for the career of a college coach. Better step up Gators.Your playing your way to the mountain west. Yes Trey I know UF leads the series but UFS, Also known as The Florida State University, is 4 wins for the last 5 games and doesn't look good for FU in the next few years.

This also bodes well for Tenn and Georgia.

Two things missing from this article. Recruits want to see the product that Coach Mac is going to put on the field before they commit. FL is in the running for several highly rated recruits. The biggest thing that this article left out that UF has is the "godfather" of South Florida (Randy Shannon). Randy Shannon and Chris Rumph are proven recruiters. Using last years class when the coaches had less than a month to pull it together is not fair and they still signed two 5 star players.

He's a very good coach and a very good player development guy

That says enough to get the product on the field to bring the talent back in. But like GnB said, they had a month or so to salvage a class. Good try though. UFS will lose how many games this year now that Rapist is gone??? Plus their fresh qb already in trouble. :tu:

May lose 1--maybe 2 with our last Heisman winner gone as the #1 overall pick in the NFL draft. Can't count for injuries.
That will be nothing like the 5 or 6 the UF gators lose. Sorry Trey 5 other top QB's on the roster. Will your rapist start this year? He better do good or the girl will charge him. SAD Trey you ignore this.

I remember Randy Shannon. He was the bag ,money man, for Luther when Miami went on their 5 year probation. He was also in charge when Nevin Shapiro put Miami on the last NCAA probation. I wouldn't brag on him just yet GnB. This guy makes Charlie Pell look like a saint. You remember Charlie Pell right? :rotf: :rotf:

You might want to do a little more research. Shannon told his players to stay away from Nevin. The adminstration let Nevin run wild because of his donations.

Also I don't live in Disney World and think that most of the big schools aren't cheating including FSU.

Randy is the one who let him run out of,lead the players out of the tunnel thru the smoke. I live far from disney,I believe all push the boundries of right and wrong. Some push to far.

This might shed some light on Shannon and Nevin's relationship.

If he was going to fire anyone someone should name those fired coaches in a five year period.
Good coverup answer.

Not really considering our debate was about Randy and Nevin's relationship. Your article doesn't point the finger at Randy..... :poke:
