While FSU is hand-picking top prospects from around the Southeast, the recruiting road has been rough lately in Gainesville and Coral Gables.
Florida's recruiting class ranking has dropped four straight years. The 2015 class was the first in a decade that finished with less than 10 percent of its signees ranked in the Rivals100 (9.5 percent). The latest Gator class also had the highest percentage of two- and three-star recruits (66.7 percent) since 2005. And so far under McElwain, the mediocre recruiting is continuing. Florida's 14-member class has just one Rivals100 member (7.1 percent), and 71.4 percent of the group is ranked as a three-star recruit or lower. The Gators' average star rating has also gone down every year since the 3.7-star average for the 2012 class; it is currently at 3.21 (see graphs below).
Can McElwain turn around Florida's recent recruiting struggles?
"It won't be easy for him," Farrell said. "He's a very good coach and a very good player development guy, but we'll see if that can overcome some substandard recruiting classes.
Looks like Florida coaches need to take this serious. There is a small window for the career of a college coach. Better step up Gators.Your playing your way to the mountain west. Yes Trey I know UF leads the series but UFS, Also known as The Florida State University, is 4 wins for the last 5 games and doesn't look good for FU in the next few years.
This also bodes well for Tenn and Georgia.
