I know this bird is not really unkillable just has been so far lol. Here goes. Got on this bird last sunday morning on the roost slipped within 70-75 yards of him, hits the ground and struts and gobbles with no hens for two hours and wouldnt commit. Get back on this bird this moring and does the exact same thing only this time he almost commits, struts into 60 yards and flies up on a limb to look around. He never sees the hen so he flies off. Im thinking wth just happened. I give him 10-15 mins and he sounds off on the next ridge. I circle over in front of him and get him coming again. Well, guess what, he did the whole limb hop routine again with the same results. After he flew off this time I never heard another word from him. Idk what else to do besides just wait till this ol rascal is so horny he cant stand it I guess. Any suggestions?

It sounds like he's suspicious,I wonder if he's been hunted before. Maybe try decoying next time? If you cant get any closer to put one out,put one behind you offset, either to your left or right.

Im trying to learn to gobble on mouth call as I speak. I just cant master a purr but the gobble is coming quick, can already get about a half a gobble out, maybe hell think ima jake haha

I do all my upclose "bed" talk with my own voice.... I can purr and do the little "whine"...... just keep your throat moist and in a motion like your gurgling, kinda hum/squeal (while gurgling and mouth closed).... you can change the pitch by moving your tongue up/down... if you want to hear the sound, PM me your cell number and I will see if I can send you a sound file later.

Go where he stood for 2 hrs and gobbled. Call lightly.
That's just it he wasn't in the same spot this morning. Same area but he didn't fly down today at the same zone he strutted in last weekend.

Try a decoy and put it behind you instead of in front in case he hangs up when he spots it too.If the woods are open enough to allow it anyway.

call to him since you said he gobbles good then move closer before he gets there then shut the @#@@ up and wait on him.

Note where he gobbles from, get real close to him & only scratch the leaves. Use a long-short-long rhythm when scratching leaves.
