Got after one at daylight on the roost. Was coming to me instead he turned around. Heard a different in the field went after him. Couldn't call him off the hen. Saw a giant Tom and even answered me. Tried to make a play on him. Again with a hen. This happened with 4 different Toms. That's just 4 that I made a play on. I am new to this but isn't it past the time of getting a hen right upon fly down? I don't want to fill my last tag and be done but I got blood in my eye.

Dominant birds can easily have hrns until June done years depending on the overall population. Yes is the answer, they should still have hens

Give them a try later in the morning, say around 9:30-10:00.
Sounds like your def in the birds!

You huntin there around Stephensville off the pike. You friends with Jason.

I normally hunt off the pike but hit up a different area today and yes Jason covers more of those knobs than I can. I know which Jason because there's not to many that hunt the pike (or dumb enough to) other than he or I. It's easier to hunt the mountains than those knobs. He was with me today tho. Dang he's good.

I ain't a new friend but new turkey hunter. Known him forever. Yeah that's the place tho. On both sides of the pike. And no I haven't had a good season. Shhhhh.
