Update for Wrangler... (recruiting)

It looks like he was told to look elsewhere. Four, 4-star DEs in one class was just too many. He may end up a great player, and I wish him well wherever he lands.

Making room. Tell Mackelbain quick! Might have a shot if he flashes a few N/C rings at him :D

Florida could finally have a recruit over 3 stars :D :D

I wouldn't bet on it since he just visited this past weekend. If what you stated if true than that's pretty sorry considering this kid had a scholarship and was committed to TN with two weeks left. Also it wouldn't be good for UT if that kind of word got out..... :pop:

I doubt he was told to look else where, he was probably just smart enough to figure it out . Intentional signing too many players that will never see play time might just be Ol Butch's thing. Seems he might be looking for loopholes to do just that. Ought to sound real good to some of the in coming recruits.

You would think the recruits would have read this by now, since it was written in 2013.

I don't follow or claim to understand everything about recruiting but I don't like "pulling offers". IF you offer and the kid accepts, it should be a done deal. I don't claim to know what happened here, and I'm sure recruiting is a cut throat business, but a deal should be a deal.

I'm with you Spurhunter. He seemed to have his heart set on being a Vol. But let's not sit here and pretend that this isn't a common occurrence on pretty much every college team in America.

The gator boys are trying to spin this into something that it's not. This happens every year on nearly every roster. I agree that it seems a little shady to tell a kid one thing and then do another but in reality, it's called "culling". Butch has an ace he's about to pull or it wouldn't have happened IMO.

I agree with you.

No one knows the real truth except the player and coaches. There has been speculation that the Vols might be making room for another player at a much more position of need, like Olineman. If that is the case, I hate it for him and his family, but like you said, it is a business, and we are in dire need on the Oline.

However, on the flip side, the kids decommit all of the time, so the coaches have to have plan "B"s. I know I would hate having to deal with a bunch of 18 yr old prima donnas in a lot of cases.

I agree. If after year 1 he sees the writing on the wall about playing time they could release him if requested. I know its part of it but I think its bull.

Exactly. I can admit it's wrong whatever school does it. They won't.

Good point. It is a 2 way street.
