Update on TUA

I expect to see him against LSU but doubt he's very mobil. Aranda will blitz him every down

I am no doctor but I don't see him playing much, or at all against LSU. Remember, Jalen had the same injury at this time last year in the Tennessee game after running in for a TD. He had his surgery on Sunday after the game, just like Tua. He didn't take a snap in a game until the Citadel game, almost a month later. It was actually just 3 days shy of a month. And even in it, he didn't get to take very many snaps before being taken out of the game. Tua, on the other leg last year, was right at a month too before they played Oklahoma. So based on those two examples, Crows reasoning is that it takes a month to heal somewhat well enough to play. And he don't have a month before the LSU game. Add in the mix, that LSU is the roughest, most physical team Bama plays on a consistent basis.

Hate to hear this. Well, you guys have Arkansas and then a bye. That will be huge. That's three weeks. But, high ankle sprains are usually 4-6 weeks for recovery. Jonathan Cooper, our starting DE suffered a high ankle sprain and had the same surgery Tua had during Fall camp. He got back for the Nebraska game, game 4. Not sure exactly when the injury occurred or when the surgery was. Ohio State doesn't disclose any injury info. DEs need those ankles. I can't say that he's been all that effective since he returned, but we rotate 13-14 D linemen like hockey lines. As a QB, Tua might be able to go for the LSU game, he just won't be mobile, but he doesn't absolutely have to be. My concern would be the injury was to his left ankle and he's a lefty. He needs to be able to push off that foot to pass.
i was thinking it was his right ankle

He had surgery last year on December 2 and was doing full foot work drills on December 19. I still don't think he'll be ready but the one thing he has going is it isn't his plant leg. Tua is great but teams know he'll not be able to move well so they'll bring the house. Of course a few quick slants might back em off [emoji1]

That ankle injury for sure takes him out of any Heisman fun and I suspect hurts his chances for a #1 draft pick .

No effect on his draft stock whatsoever. Not like it's an ACL tear or shoulder injury. He's got plenty of film and barring some other longer lasting injury, he'll have no effects from this injury at the NFL draft combine and the Alabama pro-day.

You don't think the NFL will be looking into him having a pattern of being fragile ??

Live by the blitz, die by the blitz.

They won't come after him too many times. :rotf:
It's a pick your poison then cause you let him sit in the pocket he's going to pick you apart

Im not sure the stats on TUA but the Oline did a pretty good job protecting him this year.

Those weren't #1 draft pick worthy players.

Love wasn't first round. I forget what round Simmons was drafted. Malik Hooker was first round.

I can't believe I forgot him, but was Nick Bosa first round worthy?

Name one college football player drafted in the first three rounds of any NFL Draft, that didn't have an injury history. NFL GMs know that it's a brutal sport.

The post was #1 pick worthy. Not 1st round worthy.
