I have a chance to buy a 3 year old PSE diamondback bow that appears to be in very good shape except it needs a new string. The only accessories with it are a whisker biscuit. The asking price is $150. Looking for some honest opinions as to whether ya'll think it is worth it or not. I am thinking that by the time I replace the string and outfit it with everything else I can nearly buy a new one. What do ya'll think?

That's what I've noticed. I bought a bow online and took it to the local archery shop. By the time I paid for the setup and necessities (sight, etc), I ended up spending about $100 more than I would have for a new bow in the shop (that they would have setup for free if I purchased there). When you're looking at a used bow, you need to also look at whether or not you'll have a warranty and what warranties the new bows have.

The Diamondback with the lightning cam is a great little bow.If its not the lightning cam i wouldnt fool with it.Poindexters in Gallatin can order a cheap string for about 30 bucks.5bucks for a loop.5 bucks for a peep,$50 sight, wrist strap and arrows and your set up .Yes it does add up.You buy it and excessories then let me know and i'll meet you in Gallatin and set it up for you.

How can I tell if it is the lightning cam?

Tim its kinda hard to explain.Maybe an upside down comma,,, or the number 9, not round or oval very distinct looking.Looks alot like Mathews weighted single cam a few years back. The lightning cam is about 30fps faster than the standard PSE cam on the diamondback.I think i have some modules to change draw length also. Also have string loops and silencers that could save you a little.I have a press and bench set up in a warehouse in Gallatin.I am unemployed and have plenty of time to help you with it if its needed.

jw0312 makes a very good point. I bought my first bow used and had a new string put on and had to add a few other accessories. By the time it was ready to shoot I could have spent maybe $100 more and had a brand new bow. Of course it depends on what you are willing to spend. I wasn't willing to spend that extra money when I bought that bow.

I would not put a cheap string on if it were me. I would put a good custom one on it and not have to worry so much about it stretching.
