Apologies for posting this here but this is the most active forum. I moved to my new country place about 6 weeks ago. I have seen a lot of raccoons and armadillo on my trail cams. The armadillo frequently root around right up next to the house at night, which freaks my wife out (she has been a city girl too long). Should I leave these critters alone for the benefits they provide (eating bugs primarily) or should I eliminate them? Thanks for your advice.

Armadillos dig holes that are great for spraining and ankle in or worse yet, breaking legs. Coons can carry distemper and rabies. Coons also predate turkey nests and love living in your attic. I am not in favor of total eradication of coons, but I am active in keeping the population in check. Armadillos are not from here. Kill them all.
