Shooting an AR34 and it has been a great shooting and quiet bow for several years. Just recently got a new string on it. Well it's shooting fine with pretty tight groups but there is more vibration/noise now than before. Can a new, tighter string contribute to that? One thing that is different is the string leeches that are on it now. I did have those black whiskers on it before. Could those make that big of a difference?
Would a string stop solve my problem and do you recommend a certain kind? I've checked everything and nothing is loose so pretty sure that it's the string that is causing the noise and vibration.

Thanks.

Check your specs. Measure your axle to axle and brace height and see if they are what they are supposed to be. Find out if your cam has marks or something to see if the rotation is set right. Your bow could be out of spec if the new string wasn't twisted right. The leaches may just be louder. Sometimes you might have to move them up or down the string to find where they work best. A string suppressor should help the problem. I like the String Tamer. If you get one you can probably take the leaches out of your string and be fine. I would check the specs before anything though.

Ok I checked my specs. My axle-to-axle length is a quarter inch too long. And my brace height is a quarter inch too short. Does this mean the string needs to be twisted more?

I would say the cable needs to be twisted. Specs should be checked with the limbs maxed out though. I don't know if it would help with your problem or not but you might want to consider getting it twisted to bring it closer to spec regardless.

put the whiskers back on it they are much better than what you replaced them with i had the same problem

I agree.. My bow and my son's bow had alot of string noise.... The leeches would not help.... I resorted back to the old faithful whiskers and the problems are gone... No noise on either bow....

Have your proshop that put the string on put the bow back into spec. They should have done that in the first place .
A string suppressor will reduce bow vibration more than anything you can add to a string . Cat whiskers will reduce string noise , but not bow vibration .

Well everything checked out ok so they say. I'm shooting well with it. Think I'll just put the whiskers back on.
