I use a panasonic V250 that's around $235 or so on B&H website. Good stereo mic and very powerful zoom and it's cheap. Panasonic does make some better more expensive cameras but the one I have is decent.

Here's my most recent footage filmed with this camera...

There are several things to keep in mind.

The GoPros and many of the other mini-camcorders do not have the ability to zoom much, if at all. That isn't a problem for close up action, and the video is great. I had a unit similar to GoPro a few years ago, but I ditched it when I had great footage of birds at less than 100 yards, and you couldn't even make them out. They were just specks on the screen. Another issue is a poor microphone. You could barely hear a gobble even with a bird not very far away.

So, I went with one of the small handheld units. Mine is a Samsung. You can get them for $100 or so on eBay.

The problem with these type cameras is how you are going to mount the camera while trying to hunt. I used a gun mount for a while, and it works really well, but you get a lot of distortion with the recoil at the shot. You can use a tripod, but you have to figure out how to position it while you are seated against a tree. In a blind, that wouldn't be an issue.

Self-filming is tough, but rewarding.

Here is some footage I got last week. I just had it in my hand once I realized there was no gobbler with them.

Oh yea I forgot to mention, camo your tripod. I use camo duct tape and cover everything except moving parts. I even went and put camo yarn all over it kind of like a mini ghillie suit. Also the screen on the camcorder swings out to the left side like most do, so I put some no-mar camo tape on that as well.

If you go the gun cam mount instead, remember those turkey loads make a LOT of recoil that effects the video pretty bad, you won't be able to see the shot hit the bird.

bigdoc i use the panasonic V750 and the video quality is tv quality....all the videos on my youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1CUmw ... 1mOrca0tzw) have been shot with the camera....i bought it back in february for $600 took me a minute to figure out the audio gains that i needed to record with to suit me and im still playing with it but overall im pleased.....youtube actually dumbs down the video quality that this cam produces....because most devices and tvs play back at 30fps and this cam records @60 fps and has a slow mo option to film at 120 fps (with no sound)

If your looking for something a little more simple but puts out great video and sound look at Tactacam.com
I have one and love it. I have the bow one and it is awesome. It comes with several mounts.
