Just took down a very good Memphis team to..in a slugfest.
Real physical game ,the refs ars silly ..as long as it goes both ways ..oh well

Fortunately the Vols brought their A game to the free throw line today.
Memphis being Memphis at the end. Some things just don't change.

Penny was doing some major whining after the game.
"You could visibly see guys with their fists balled, talking trash to our guys. It was almost like a standoff. I was asking the referee why they were able to come across the line into our area and not get a technical."
Hardaway had an animated discussion with the officials before leaving the floor after the game. He said afterward he was told that the Vols players could come on the floor because Memphis had just called a timeout.
I know Barnes wants to play the game to help with recruiting, but this is a good example of why the series went on hiatus.

The film doesn't show anything like what Penny was claiming. The TN sideline wasn't rushing with fists balled up. It was his side instigating. That is why they got the extra technical and TN shot free throws. Typical memphis being memphis stuff. Penny certainly didn't show much class in the aftermath.
Penny Hardaway was a thug and still is as he walked past Barnes without a word . Their Fouls were indicative of no discipline. Memphis basketball is classless.

I know some guys do the same thing before they shoot a FT every single time, or before every pitch in baseball when there at the plate, kickers in football before trying for a FG usually have a routine they do the same was every time........maybe part of his routine was giving his teammates high-fives and he didn't want to mess that up.

Hey, I got to take my shots when I can.I like...well, respect UT basketball more than I let on. Barnes is a heck of a coach and there are some talented athletes on the UT team. But I really liked the Pearl era at UT.
Memphis has a LONG way to go, but will get there eventually. I am not sold on Hardaway being the right coach, but he has re-energized the program a bit.

I understand. Pearl was great and caught lightning in a bottle.
Penny will get the talent. But, not sure how good of a floor coach he will be and developer of talent. But, hey, it's worked for Calipari.
