Vols vs South Carolina BB

This young team just keeps surprising people 3-0 on the road in sec play also :tu: 12-5 Overall record ALOT better record then most people would have guessed 17 games into the season. Good win for the Vols!

Make it 15 straight over the cocks. :moon: OK now seriously this is the first game that I've watched any of so tell me why when UT shoots free throws they don't have anybody there for the rebound and also why they don't press at the end?

If leading, you back your guys off of the FT line to not risk a stupid rebounding foul, thus giving them a chance at free points without the clock moving.

The same holds true for pressing. Don't want to risk a stupid back court foul or risk giving up an easy layup. You want to make them work and take clock for their points.

Credit to SC though, as they caught fire, especially when we started missing shots and free throws. I thought we were gonna blow it!

I wouldn't do either when the game is tied or close and especially the way we were shooting free throws. Missed free throw and they're down the court in 2 seconds.

Keep swinging :D !

This is actually GOOD NEWS for Tyndall!

http://tonybasilio.com/index.php?page=tony&b=2065

None of this sounds like good news....

http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/article7872096.html

"Tyndall's contract at Tennessee allows the school to fire him for cause if he's found to have committed an NCAA Level I or Level II violation "whether the conduct occurred during (Tyndall's) employment with the university or another NCAA-member institution."

If the NCAA or SEC chose to suspend Tyndall due to violations, his contract allows the school to fine him $10,000 for each game he misses.

Two members of Tyndall's staff have resigned since Southern Mississippi's November announcement. Assistant coach Adam Howard stepped down for what the school described as personal reasons. R.J. Rush cited family reasons for resigning as special assistant to Tyndall.

When Tyndall was coaching Morehead State in 2010, the program was placed on two years of probation for recruiting violations related to booster activity. The school's self-imposed penalties included the loss of one scholarship and other recruiting restrictions.

The Vols are now back in a wait-and-see mode, waiting to see if the Southern Miss situation will impact them."

I think it was a bad hire. Probably because Cuonzo sort of left you in the lurch. Served Hart and Vols fans right though. Hart didn't have a lot of choices. The current record is just indicative of how bad the SEC is in basketball. Best team in the country (KU) and one of the best coaches and programs in a down year (Donovan and UF), but that's it. It's been a sorry arse conference for basketball for years except for those two schools. I'd send him packing but probably wait until the season is over if the NCAA allows. Serves you Vols fans right especially for how you treated one of your own. Going to be a long time to recover from this.

:D

Had Matta not turned in Pearl, and he not tried to cover it up for some unknown idiotic reason, he would still be here ;) :D !

However, I think Tyndall is a better floor coach, and proving to be just as good of a recruiter. From all indications, it is more of a SoMiss deal than Tyndall. He may be penalized some, but shouldn't be too harsh, especially when you have all of the junk going on at NC. Hart may just stick by him, and whatever sanctions, and tell the NCAA to stick it.
