It's been tough but I am on the board.... Yesterday was the best gobbling day so far for me... Heard several and this one was actually on the farm I can hunt... Got on him at daylight and killed him at 10:00am....today was back to same ol same ol!!!! Listen to them gobble on the neighbors and shut up when they hit the ground.... I can't remember it ever being this tough at this point in the season..

Congrats! It's been a tough one for just about everyone I have spoken with. I hope this just means that things are ready to fire up and get super hot.

Doubled up with my buddy this morning. We worked this flock of birds for a long time this morning. There were 4 strutters, 8 jakes and a wad of hens. The hens were very vocal till about 8am. The strutters spent over an hour hung up at 70 yards. My buddy was up front on the gun and I was sitting a couple trees back calling. I finally got one of the longbeards to to ease off the hill our way. My buddy got a long shot and hammered a nice 2 year old. As soon as he shot the boss bird came running in and jumped on his bird. I hammered the boss. We laser ranged the shots afterwards and they were a bit further than I would recommend. Fortunately we had both spent lots of time patterning and tweaking to make the shots lethal at that range. Both shooting 3.5" magblends. I'd like to be good enough to call them to 20 yards every time. Till then, it's good to know the effective range of my gun. Don't ask how far... :)

It was a great hunt and good memories were made.

I will post the rest of the "proof" pics later on in the score thread.

I'm computer illiterate when it comes to uploading things, but here goes. This bird came from a new property that I've never hunted. Not much of a story, other than he did the same thing two days in a row, and it got him kilt.

Decided to detour after work today. I dropped by one of my farms to see if any turkeys were out. This farm floods and since we had a big rain recently the turkeys were visible. I had to wade the branch four times but I finally got in front of them. There were five gobblers and four hens. This guy is my heaviest ever. 25.5 lbs, 10 1/8" beard, 1 1/8" and 1" spurs.
