How warm is to hot to field dress a deer? And also what about the flys touching the inside of a deer? Once field dressed what is the time line and process used? I have shot and killed many deer but its always been anywhere from 10-40 degrees outside just looking for advice when its above 45 degrees i guess or around 70 during the day?

thanks

Most of us here would probably pray for a day of 70 degree weather during early bow season. I'd say you have a little time if it's any cooler than that. Temperatures of 90 and above are common here when the season starts and plenty of guys are killing and eating deer in September. Best advice is gut it as soon as possible and get it to a cooler. I've never really given the flys much thought. I have in the past packed ice in the cavity and then on top of the whole deer.

I guess I'm just assuming you're not from the south by the way if you're talking about 10* weather. brrr

Nope im from ohio but was a soldier at ft campbell and lived in clarksville,tn for 6 years and got out of the army this year and liked it so much we moved to east TN. Its a little colder up there haha and i still go home to hunt but am kinda new to hunting down here.

I understand. I moved here from GA. It gets hot there. Thanks for your service! I hope you kill a big ol' buck...or 3!
