Shoot a hen with my crossbow 2" rage tips....good solid hit from 40 yards....darn thing walked off and I'd swear part of my arrow was sticking out the other side of it...Aimed for body center where front of wing meets chest....

Thinking of leaving my bow at home and taking shotgun tomorrow... :bash:

I wouldnt be against a mechanical broadhead for a turkey.. .very small kill zone and easy for arrow to fly through the bird, so why not use a much wider head that will slow down quicker and cut more. But I have shot a couple with fixed blade and didn't hit them just right and they ran off never to be found, lets say I much prefer the shotgun

I disagree cat. A turkey that has its wings held tight against its body is much more dense than a deer. Those quills are hard.

so are a shoulder blade and rib bones on a deer but an arrow still blows through those

Don't want to get in an argument. But I've shot a deer in the rib cage at 10 yds and a turkey at 10yds with the same set up and it didn't blow threw the turkey but did the deer. I shot a turkey in stut the same year at 30yds and made a complete pass threw.

Funny how that works isn't it. I don't think it's the quills but the wingbone joint could slow an arrow down quite a bit. Long as it gets into the vitals and cuts a good hole I wouldn't worry about a complete pass thru with a turkey, I would just want to hit it right, which isn't easy
