Is there such a thing any more? My first pair of rocky snake boots 10 years ago were awesome. I wore them completely out after about 4-5 seasons. Since then I bought rocky again only to find they are not made the same. Not even close to waterproof. Even the guys who sell them tell you dont expect them to stay waterproof very long. They would replace one pair but after that deal with the company. I switched to cabelas brand last time. They stayed waterproof for one season before starting to leak. I bought a pair of waterproof socks last season to stay dry. I did not want to buy another pair of boots until I was 100% sure they are waterproof. I have use my rubber boots on really wet days. But I steped on huge rattle snake ,scared me to death. So now I make sure I wear my snake boots. But I would like to stay dry when wearing them.

I have worn my rubber boots. Much hotter not as comfortable. I set out and cover alot of ground and hunt much of the day. Not easy in my rubber boots.

I had rather my feet get wet from dew/rain than wear rubber boots and get wet from sweat. I have a pair of Cabela's that I have had for about four years and they don't leak. I spray them with "camp dry" or silicone (sp) a couple of times a year.

P.S. - they really work.......I have never seen a posionous snake while wearing them!

Danner's, I have worn all the Rockies etc etc, and they all leak after a short period of time, and last one season before they fall apart. Save your money and either get a pair of Danner's, or a pair of Russells. The rest are absolute junk.

I have a pair of the cabelas snake boots. They are gortex suppose to be their best. After one season they leaked. I do try and take care of my boots by spraying them with the waterproof stuff etc.. I guess I will try danner next go around.

It all depends on how much ground you have to cover. I hunt a lot on 80 to 100 acre private farms. In this case my lacross rubber boots work fine. On a WMA though, or big property, I usually wear my hiking boots and my chaps over them. I owned a pair of rocky snake boots once. My feet stayed wet in them from sweat and from water.

I'd love a pair of Danners, but I'm too cheap.

I've gone through 3 pairs of Danner Pronghorns because they leak and I'm about to be on pair 4.

Ditto! Since most Danners now come from China, the quality isn't what it used to be. But, if they leak they will give you another pair.

As far as snake boots, where I hunt it isn't an issue. I have seen 2-3 snakes period in all of the years I have hunted.

voldoug, I thought the same thing. I had hunted over 10 years without running into a poison snake. On a wet morning i switched to my rubber boots. Steped on a monster rattle snake. Scared me so bad I almost puked. I wear the snake boots now each time.

I realized after I posted it that I had probably just made the snake gods mad and will be seeing them every where I step this spring :D !

I think reg boots will protect you pretty much. I worry now about when im crawling doing a sneak attack. snake boots will not do me any good when im on my belly crawling.
