I hunt out of a pop up ground blind with my kids a few times a year. It helps to keep the 11 & 8 y/o concealed with all their movements. One of the issues in mountain land is find a spot flat enough that you can put the blind out that your not looking up or down from or trying to keep the chair from tipping over. I decided back in the spring I was going to build a small deck to put a ground blind on. I drew it up in CAD, created a bill of material then I priced the lumber from Lowes, It was going to be almost $300 at the time for pressure treated wood to make a 6' x 6' deck. That changed my mind on doing this till I seen my cousin's wife post about tearing down their current deck for a new one they are putting up around their new pool. Reached out to my cousin, told him what I was doing and what I would like to have. I got 8-2x6x12', 6-4x4x6' post and 25 1x4x6' decking boards for free. Just had to go by his house and pick them up. My son and I spent a few hours putting it together in the garage then hauled it to our land. Once I got it set over looking our 0.53 plot, my dad & him used some solid stain we got from free from Lowes to paint it. Then I took roofing paper to cover the decking surface. I bought some cheap I bolts from walmart to strap the blind to. Then I topped it off with a new Primos Smokescreen blind that Rogers had on sale last spring for 159, and Primos had a 100.00 rebate on the blind. So in the end, I have $83.59 in a new ground blind, I Bolts, screws, paint brush & roller for the deck.

super nice! now take the popup blind down and put it back the week before you are going to use it... they don't last long if left out for extended periods.

Your correct, most brands don't last being out in the element, but the Primos are a better material that last really well. I also spray it with UV protenant to help with the fading. I normally take them down after each use, but this spot isn't easy to pack one into every time. This one will be used at the end of Sept and I will take it up at end of Nov.

Heck I scout Craigslist almost daily for free building materials for stands, etc. I could buy them but I'm a tightwad, so there's that....
