Well I stink at mouth calling!!

Yeah I can get the high and low SSSSS. My Yelp ain't working and my Cluck leaves a bit to be desired! But man I can KEY KEY!!! Got that down!! LOL!!

I want to be able to cut and yelp!!

I belive the yelp is the easiest to start own. Try to start out with a high pitch and quickly drop it down to a lower pitch. EEEEEEEEEE AWK EEEEEEEEE AWK EEEEEEEEEEE AWK

You do this by applying a lot of pressure to the reed with your tounge and then relaxing the pressure. ( Note: make sure you aren't letting any air go over the top of the call, the air should go between the latex and the tounge.) Take it slowly at first, then speed it up to a cadence that resembles the yelp. You'll want to close your lips after the "AKW" sound to create a single note on each yelp.

I remember the frustration of it, but keep at it. It will eventualy click for you. :)

I cut by mouthing CAT-CAT-CAT-CATCAT-CAT-CATCATCAT-CATCAT-CAT

I try to go for no set rhythm at all to sound as realistic as possible.

Cool!! I will give those a try today and let you know how I fair! Got a 3 hour drive to LittleRock!

What type of mouth call you using? I think the Primos mouth calls with the "ridge" in them are the easiest I have ever tried. Have a few different ones that I use but just picked one up for the heck of it and its the easiest mouth call I have ever tried.

It takes alot of practice J, if you are jus learning you might as well jus not even worry about using it this year I have had a diaphram in my mouth since I was 15 and jus now getting to were I'm comfortable with using it huntin, my best friend recently placed 5th in Intermedite division of Grand Nationals, he is amazing to hear call, I wish I was as half as good as he is but I honestly would say I am decent but it has taken time to learn everything, alot has to do with the brand of call you have if you have a cheap call it won't sound as good as a $15 mouth call IMO!

Just seems like without it you are shut down when the bird is in sight! You can't move! The only other option is a box on the shotgun with a string. What do you do when they are within sight and you need to get them that nest 10 yards?
