Well TnTrapper got us on some birds first thing. We were hoping for a double.... Well we set up decoys and had to move twice to try to get where the birds would be coming through. We moved a third time trying to close the distance on a good tom. We set beck up and Trapper did the calling and had that old boss tripple gobbling. Well after a fight with a few hens Trapper had him coming back our way. The old tom was trying to skirt our location. We were setup on the side of a holler. The ole tom came around and I misjudged the distance.... it walked out to be around 55 yards. I shot and the ole tom trotted up the opposite side and went back out 75 yards in the field and started gobbleing again.... not 2 minutes later 2 jakes slipped up behind us and when we were starting to regroup they alarm putted and we decided to leave and let things settle down.
Went back out the afternoon and saw 1 strutter and 2 more that were with 3 hens. We bumped a tom and 5 other hens trying to work around on the first ones. We set back up in the edge of field we hunted that morning and saw 6 more jakes and 8 hens along with 40+ deer... I could have taken a jake but decided to let them walk. Thanks for the hospitality TnTrapper, had a great time, and see you again in a few weeks. JTHuntsalot it was nice finally meeting you in person too.
