Well this morning turned out to be a great one for me. I was hunting a farm that has only recently gotten any turkeys within the last 3 years but they have started doing well. I heard 5 gobbling on the limb with a group of 3 doing the heavy gobbling. I couldnt go to them because they were off the property so I just set up in the field. This place is 125 acres with about 5 trees on the entire place, very wide open. I dont normally use decoys but this time I put out a hen and jake. I messed around some with the Woodhaven Red Wasp but the gobblers really didnt seem interested at all, they just stayed in the same area back in the woods. So I brought out my gobble call and that did the trick. They closed from probably 400 yards to 40 within minutes. Problem was I had them all in a row coming down the fence line and couldnt shoot or would kill all 3. So finally one seperated and I shot him. After the shot, the other two just hopped on him and started beating him and gobbling their heads off. They stuck around for another 30 minutes. Awesome hunt! I hadnt been turkey hunting much this year but this reminded me why I love it. 30 yard shot Hevi 7's out of Kicks .680 in a 835. 19.6 pounds, 10 inch beard, 1 inch spurs.
