What are you seeing?

Been two mornings . Saw 3 toms carried 2 of them home no hens or jakes.
If I get a chance to cover more ground this weekend I should bump a few hens as I am walking the ridge tops.

Not a lot really...and I've hunted a little bit every day thus far. Even though I've killed a pair it's been pretty slow actually. Very little gobbling, very little hen talk, and relatively few sightings though there's sign everywhere. Just a real slow start as far as turkey activity and sightings.

I've yet to see a jake and numbers seem to be somewhat down in some of my spots. Still early though and a lot can change fast

In the core areas where I hunt, I'm seeing/hearing/calling in a handful of single hens each day I've been out. Saturday I never heard a gobble, Sunday I heard 1 bird burn it up on the roost but immediately shut up and never gobble again once I called to it, and Wednesday I never heard a gobble.

IMO, and it's hard to make any educated assumption, but they are way way way behind where I hunt. I think they are in huge groups, and have barely begun to breed. The single hens are probably either jennies that have left or been booted, or their very old hens ready to breed with no one to court them.

As of today this is the most bizarre start to the season where I hunt. It's hard to say how many of any are out there, as it feels like there are virtually none.

seen plenty of hens, plenty of toms and a few jakes. Hearing is different, gobbling seems to be down from last year.
