Thanks alot that was what I was looking for. I might shoot it at 50 yards but that would be my farthest shot period.Roost 1 said:Looks great, dont get caught up in the numbers game. With that pattern your effective range will be well past 40yds.
Thanks REN. I may get some #7 and tinker with it. Just depends on the mood im in when I come back from the road on the next weekend I mess with it. Thanks for all the comments and advice guys.REN said:if you are going to stick with the SSX and still want to tinker then you can always try the #7's. that choke/shell/gun combo has done VERY well.
3" is fine, thats all i shoot out of one of my stoegers. 178 is the highest i got with 3" 6's out of mine but was getting 261 with a more even pattern with 3" 7's so I just prefer the 7s in my gun.
With that being said 157 is a good place to be and if you deep clean the barrel prior to shooting and swab between shots it could be higher or produce a better pattern. Also if you shoot it when the temps are near 60 you should see an increase as well.
Like others have said, just all depends on what you want to do and how much you want to tinker. What you posted will kill without a doubt.
