Looks great, dont get caught up in the numbers game. With that pattern your effective range will be well past 40yds.
Thanks alot that was what I was looking for. I might shoot it at 50 yards but that would be my farthest shot period.

numbers wise it is more then fine, anything over 100 and you are good to go. My only negative on it is it seems to have a few holes in the evenness of the pattern, however i dont think they are big enough to make or break a kill so to speak but that would be my only comment on it as far as negatives

I assume this was a 3" shell and if so 157 is a fantastic number.

did you clean the barrel real good prior or shot though a dirty barrel? also what was the temps when you shot. All that can play a role in the actual numbers

I am going to clean barrel and shoot again. I seem to have lost my 12 ga brush. They are 3" shells which is the max that my gun will take. The whole do concern me a bit but it didnt seem to "blow the pattern". I am definately happy and confident in this but Im always lookin for improvement. I may purchase a jellyhead before next season. I was actually teetering on the verge between the jh and the ssx when a fellar on og talked me into the ssx. Temp was 54 with about a 2-3 mph wind.

if you are going to stick with the SSX and still want to tinker then you can always try the #7's. that choke/shell/gun combo has done VERY well.

3" is fine, thats all i shoot out of one of my stoegers. 178 is the highest i got with 3" 6's out of mine but was getting 261 with a more even pattern with 3" 7's so I just prefer the 7s in my gun.

With that being said 157 is a good place to be and if you deep clean the barrel prior to shooting and swab between shots it could be higher or produce a better pattern. Also if you shoot it when the temps are near 60 you should see an increase as well.

Like others have said, just all depends on what you want to do and how much you want to tinker. What you posted will kill without a doubt.
