Do you let him dance for a while or shoot him as soon as he gets in the range you like? For me it depends on the season I am having. If I have had a tough season, or if its the first one of the season as soon as he steps within the range that I know I can kill him graveyard dead, I pull the trigger. If I have killed a few and he has no clue I'm around, however, i will let him show off for me? What say you? Just curious.

Most of my hunting is done in the woods so after greenup when a bird comes into view he is usually in range.
Unless its a jake or a lonebeard that I know has a better bird with him hes floppin.

depends on the situation, such as waiting on a double or something but usually if he is in range he is getting shot at. i tend to kill a lot of field birds so i see plenty of the dance before they get there.

depends, if i know he is nervous or spooky i will kill him as soon as possible but if i know for certain that he has no clue danger is near then i let him show off a little!

I will shoot him as soon as I know he is clear from other turkey, nothing in the way obstructing the shot, I also don't shoot them while they are strutting, its way to easy to miss that way, so basically I take the first safe ethical shot the gobblers allows me

The only exception is when I am waiting on a double and waiting on either myself or the other shooter to have a shot.

Other than that, I "want" a 20 yard shot. If things seem to get ancy or awry before that he gets a face full.

:D the good kind

This is something I'm going to change in my hunt this year. Every bird I've killed it has been shot as soon as he is in range, the excitement I can't stand! I played with a couple at the end of the season and really enjoyed it. So this year I will be more playful. Watch the show.....
