If a front is expected to hit say 5:00-7:00 PM do you feel like deer will move right up close to that front hitting or is AM the ideal time to see heavier deer movement?

Deer moved good all day today ahead of the front. I expect it to continue overnight and a good part of tomorrow. I also expect them to seek refuge from the cold wind so south or southeast facing slopes or the south / SE side of a cedar wind break ahead of the temp drop as the rain comes thru.

Today would have been IMO a good day yet I sit here at the house . Does that tell a man your hunting career is dwindling down ? Up in time plenty of time without even setting an alarm stuff already in the truck but what do I do .. get in the recliner and fall back off to sleep ☺. May go Thursday who knows trying to keep the desire .. in reality my back tweeking yesterday probably didn't help. Oh well go get 'em guys .

I just hunt. Deer move at most any time. Bad weather days are when I have many bucks, especially the larger of bucks I have personally ever seen in the woods. I do think, that even though deer do "lay up" to some extent during rough weather, that when they do move around they like to be able to see since their hearing and smelling is compromised. I have hunted many bad weather days that I saw zero deer, but I have seen and killed many great bucks on terrible weather days. Like I said, if I can go, I hunt. I do not pay attention to the wind, well until I get to the spot I want to hunt and then I will attempt to use the wind to my advantage, but like I have said many times, I have been told more times that I can remember by "experts", " the wind is wrong for that spot, don't hunt there in the mornings because of air currents, you will never see a deer in this wind, etc." only to go hunt and see deer and even kill a deer, sometimes a great buck.

Cold, crisp, bluebird days are when I've seen, and killed, my best bucks. :)

Those old blue jays sell those bucks out, too! Worse than squirrels. Anytime I'm sitting on a cool, calm morning and suddenly hear a bunch of jays sounding off from one area, I watch close because many times it's a rack buck.

That's old school there Ski....I like it....listen close to what's happening around you....good stuff.

It all depends on how long the front will last, what the front is bringing (snow, rain, wind etc) and the changes from the front (temp, pressure etc). To keep it simple, I would hunt before and after the front. Both times will be productive.

I never hunt front days like today because my cameras indicate little to no movement. Today was no different with zero pics all day. Heck even my dog couldn't get out of bed today..

I imagine this evening after rain pushes through and next 2 days will be very active.

Thats funny you said that about your dog. I have 3 adult large breed dogs (anatolians and caucasian shepherds) and they pretty much lay around all day conserving calories. Except first thing in the morning and right as its getting dark. And then maybe once every other week they are really active in the middle of the day. Always very cold, clear, high pressure type days. I know it's not a 1-1 correlation, but on days where my pups are moving around a bunch, I try to get in the woods.

Yep, they sure do. Sometimes the same holds true with crows.

I love to hunt before or after a storm of any kind is blowing through. I have one blind that keeps me somewhat dry and today the wind was perfect for that spot. It was pouring rain , wind and thunder around 1:45 when I got in the blind. About 2:00 a guy in full camo came walking out of the woods through the field so had to jump out and go after him. It was raining so hard I couldn't see that he was carrying a metal detector and a shovel. It was a loud exchange at first and lasted about 5 minutes but ended with him promising to never come back. I figured my hunt was shot but I stuck around anyway . A young buck showed up thirty minutes later and bedded down rt in front of me. Other small bucks came later and only 1 doe . The bedded buck only got up when a bigger one showed up and trotted towards him. I'll post a video and a couple of pics but I ended up seeing 6 does and 8 bucks and 1 trespasser . Never saw another deer after 4:00 and zero buck / doe love interest. Rained the whole time and even lightning.
