remington 870 supermag with a primos jellyhead choke federal flight controls 3.5 #6's.

Have you tried other choke/ammo combination for the 870 supermag? Based on your pattern, what's the longest shot you would feel comfortable with? I have the 870 supermag as well, and was looking at a choke/ammo combinations for this gun. Not sure If I want to change, but looking into it. I bought the gun used and it came with a Mad Max md-1002 choke (.665), which I can't find a whole lot of info on. Im assuming it's discontinued. Anyways, I shoot Federal flight control 3.5 #6's also. It's done the trick so far. 4th season to use it, taken 6 birds and 1 miss. Longest shot was 42 yards, and miss was around 15. Would love to hear your thoughts. Part of me thinks if it aint broke, don't fix it, and part of me just wants to put myself in the best position possible to bring home the bacon (turkey bacon)

I too used a 870 SM for a few years. I experimented with several different chokes, and all the top end hevi shot brands and loads out there. I simply could never make this gun, shoot the patterns I personally require, at the distances I require.
I think it was likely due to the short 21" barrel that was on mine. I personally like a 24" barrel for the optimum length for Turkey hunting. Its a good middle ground for performance and still easily carried and handled in most situations.
