Does anyone see anything odd in this picture from my office of downtown Knoxville??

Now that's something you don't see every day. Any idea where it came from? Did it stay there long?

I cannot figure it out. There is not suitable habitat for at least a mile. He's trapped in this little area. He will get up and feed for a few minutes and lay back down.

I had a buddy a couples years ago shoot a gobbler. They took pictures, hiked back to their truck and loaded the gobbler in the bed of his truck. As he was driving down the road, he looked in his rearview and the gobbler was standing up. They had to jump in the bed and finish him off.

As crazy as that sounds, I'm wondering if the same thing didn't happen on the interstate here and the jake bailed out.

Setterman- did you shoot a jake and lose it on the drive back? :D

I see great habitat in the background... that church steeple would make an excellent roost.

very little competition from other birds, so he gets the choicest of eats. No other gobblers to torment him, he's got the world on a string, sitting on a rainbow.

turkeys are incredibly adaptable, he may get to live a long life eating birdseed out of people's backyard if he can avoid the cars.

Nashville has them too, inside the loop from 65 to briley parkway there are 3 that have been there since last spring.
Started out about 8 and those 3 have stayed .

The nearest area that could hold turkeys is to the far right on this picture across Neyland Stadium and the river.

Hot dammit that's Pete, he's my best decoy. Rat Rosie O'Donnell must've escaped today while I was at work. Unlike the posers who use plastic turkeys I use real ones. They work better and if they don't you can kill them and eat em. If you don't care grab him and put him your car and bring him to me. He likes to ride in the front seat just make sure to put a seat belt around him. He enjoys free base jazz if you want to make him feel at home. Btw he gets a little bitey if you mess with the air conditioning. Just a heads up

I'd speculate he was flushed by someone across the river.
Had to land somewhere.
Then somehow, he can't find his way back.
