I've seen this stuff all my life, but it's never stuck out to me until I cleaned a double handful out of a craw yesterday.

From what I can find on the world wide web, it's wild buttercup and the turkeys are tearing it up where I hunt

what i am reading says buttercup is toxic to animals. all they mention are farm animals(mammals). must not include birds.

I call it buttercup, and it isn't the same as those bulb plant daffodils.
I have heard they are toxic to cows, most cow people try to spray it I believe. Not sure though, I am no cattleman

yep just sprayed 300 gallon 2-4D yesterday in my pastures, never seen the cows eating them so not sure if they are toxic or not but know they will take a field over if left alone.

It's some pretty stuff when it takes over a field. I didn't know it was toxic to livestock

Buttercup. And it can makes cows sick in a hurry. They normally won't eat on it. But once it starts taking over and they get some of it it's like crack to them. And they will get bad sick off it

Well I never trusted anyone from Indiana anyway. :)

The reason you are seeing so much of it this year, the fields were supposed to be sprayed with MCPA in FEB or March but the snow would not allow it.
So now we have buttercups everywhere, they are pretty but pretty much useless. But at least turkeys like it.
