Killed this bird and and found this. I suspect he has been shot before possibly multiple times. Looks like infection of some sort there was actually a cavity in his breast full of what looked like feces. Found a pellet in the cavity also but it looked new and was the right diameter to be mine. Also looks like a pellet previously hit his beak. When I cut his legs off a large amount of yellow fluid ran out of both joints. He acted healthy before and when I shot him. I guess all we can do is speculate.

That bird is full of infection. I shot a deer once like that, when I went to skin it yellow liquid poured out. Nasty for sure.

Dang that's a pretty sick bird, crazy how they still act normal. Hate to see wasted meat, but no way would I eat any bit of that one.

Im thinkin Ill fry it up into nuggets and feed it to my 2 youngest teenage daughters boyfriends as appetizers for our cookout today!!! ;}

What is the black/brown stuff it was soft but not hard, it stunk terribly. Is it possible he was leaking intestinal fluid into that cavity. I wanted to dig around but I didnt want that crap on me, I put the whole thing in the trash. This was one of the most beautiful Toms I have ever seen the color was awesome.

I killed one last year that had been shot in the chest a few days earlier. He ran a full sprint to me over 300 yards and acted fine, but was full of shot in his breast when I cleaned him. I shot him in the head at 15 yards and the chest stuff was on the off side. I scrapped that side, ate the other.

I killed one a few years ago that had been shot in the breast. When I peeled the skin back to cut the breast out there was lil yellow/green circles around where the pellets had went into the meat so I threw the whole thing away. I remembered talking to a guy a few days before who said he had shot and rolled a gobbler but it got up and flew off. This bird also acted as if nothing was wrong with him.
