What kind of fletching do you use?

This isn't just to add another what........? Thread. I've been having trouble with my fletching. I get them proffessionally done and they don't wantto stay on. Luckily the guy that does mine is nice enough that he will do them for free.

I got 7 arrows back from him and shot three. Two of them came off the first shots. I was planning on just saving the other four as hunting arrows but I'm worried they will fall of while hunting. It doesnt affect accuracy much when they fall off(actually they just rip halfway off) but it sounds like an airplaine when they flap in the air.


My only thought is it may be my whisker biskit. My local shop pointed out that the WB on my bow is for alluminum shafts and I shoot carbon. I think this might cause the arrow to strike it at a downward plane which cuts it but idk.


Anyways what works best for y'all? Fletching and glue.

Blazers and either Loctite gel or Gorilla glue imapct formula. The key to great adhesion is proper prep�scratch the surface, get it cleaner than clean with acetone and then wipe the activator off of the base of the Blazer with an acetone dipped q-tip.
 
Same as TNDeerGuys said. I use Loctite now and it works great. It only takes a little little little bit of glue with loctite. I normally use blazers but am using Fuzion vanes this year and love the way they fly.
 
MC sorry you are having problems with the blazers still. But it's not the WB I shot the same arrows and fletchings for 5-6 years and never had to replace them. They only started falling off after I switched to a diff color. Those fletchings that I passed along to you were the ones I was using prior and they were fletched with Bohning fletch tite platinum, but I am becoming a fan of the loctite and gorilla super glue. Are you still using the wraps or bare shaft?

I took the wraps off. I think it is most likely the glue.

I'm not too worried about it. The ones that don't fall off the first few shots seem like they are going to stay on for good. As long as I have four on the quiver that I know won't fall apart Ill be fine.

The bow still shoots great too. I'm grouping pretty good at 40 yards. I doubt Ill need to shoot past 30 though. It's pretty quite and quick too.
 
blazers, and loctite as well...my wife's are the only ones i have actually fletched, but shes been shooting the same vanes for 3 years now through a biscuit, and they are still going strong.
 
When I shot with a WB, I started with Blazers and super glue gel (cheap stuff bought at craft store). I never had a problem. I did switch to shooting feathers through it and I fletched these with super glue gel also. They never gave me a problem either.
 
I have two sets of arrows. Same arrows, different fetching. One set has Fusion European cut 2 inch vanes fletched helically. The other has Blazers in an offset. I use the fusions with a fixed broad head and the blazers with a mechanical. The offset fletched arrows fly about 10 FPS faster. But, they are not as accurate. The helical arrows routinely shoot tighter than the offsets.
 
I acetone my shafts, and fetching bases. Then I use fletchtite on the vanes. Never had an issue. But, I am not using a bisker whisket. I use a fall away.
 
dad and i both use 4" vane with 2 degree offset. did a test last year with different degrees and vanes vs. blazer. Blazer was louder through the air and the more helical made it louder as well. it could be because the blazer is stiffer. we matched up our bitzenberger jig with factory fletings from carbon express which are 2 degree offset. combine that with the g-lock blu-glu (which is pricey) and we never have a problem. we use like a 2-3000 grit sandpaper and give the area a slight scuff, then clean with acetone.
 
I gotta friend doing then right now. He should have them done in a few days. He even let my dad borrow a 2005 Bowtech Tomkat. It's set at really low draw weight so it shoots very slow compared to my Martin but it's accurate and quite. The arrows he has for it he fletched himself and they have blazers so Im sure he knows what he's doing and mine will be fine.
 
If you are shooting a left or right helical, your wisker bisket will tear them up. In my opinion, you should be shooting a straight fletched vane with a wisker bisket.
