I am taking a 7 yr. old boy hunting this weekend and he is a little bity feller. I'm not sure what gauge or load he needs to shoot. I dont want him to get his dingaling string knocked loose too bad when he shoots, help me out fellas.

20 gauge would be my guess as .410 is not legal for turkeys in TN. If he is little and not accustomed to shooting a gun, I would be a little hesitant to put him behind too much gun/recoil. If he is accustomed to shooting, I would stick to high brass #4s and not shoot past 35 yards. I realize this may be tough this early in the season with little to no foliage in the woods, but that would be my approach. This is solely what I would recommend, not what everyone else should do.

If he is that small you may have to just shoot 2 3/4 inch high brass 4's out of a 20 gauge and keep the shots real close, like 20 yards. 28 gauge is legal now but you know not many folks have those.
