I just bought a remington 870 super magmun and am wonering what choke and shells i should use with it and if i should put any mounts on it. I wouldlike to use cheaper shells since i just turned 18 and dont have a lot of money. Any suggestions? And any tips of anything would be appreciated, this will be my first year turkey hunting.

I've had good luck with a factory super full choke and 3" Winchester H.V. #4 in a 3" 870. The 870's in general seem to like a .665 choke.
I've also had good luck with a Primos Jellyhead .665 and Federal Flite Controls in 3.5", #5.
The NWTF and Old Gobbler web sites have really good fourms discussing guns and shooting. You can read all day about various choke/shell combos. Alot of those guys REALLY get into the shooting aspect of turkey hunting. One of the guys that post alot on both fourms is allaboutshooting he is a tester for alot of companies the make and sell chokes and shells.
If you'll watch quite often there are choke tubes that are sold on the classified sections of fourms, including this one, that are really good buys.
Good luck!!

.665 choke and either 3" or 3.5" #4 or 5 shells. You don't have to buy a name. They will all kill a turkey at 30 yards. If you're looking to shoot one from 50 yards you need to practice CALLING before anything else... :D J/K

I'm just saying you don't have to buy the name brand stuff to kill a bird. I know what it's like to be on a budget too.

I've got an 870 super mag myself.
Choke-Hunters Specialty Undertaker .665
Shells-Kent Ultimate #5 in 3"

So far I've made 2 shots and killed 2 turkey with this setup. Both around 30 yards.

I have the same gun, the super mag 870 specialty turkey shotgun. I use the choke from the factory and use Remington or Federal 3.5" shells shoting 2oz. of #5 shot.
