I always check in with NOAA and Weather Underground day before and morning of my hunts. I don't recall any time in the past where these two have disagreed on wind direction as much as they have this Fall (almost diametrically opposed). I feel I got burned on a hunt earlier this season by relying on WU's wind direction forecast. For my hunting location, on Saturday NOAA is forecasting NW wind at 5-10mph while WU is forecasting SE wind at 3-6mph!!!! On Sunday, NOAA is forecasting SW at 5-10 and WU is forecasting NE at 5-10!!!

I'm going with NOAA unless something changes tomorrow morning.

I have struggled this year myself. A lot of northern winds. I am hunting hillier ground this year, but I find Weather sites are a suggestion. Yesterday where I hunted had completely opposite wind than Noaa. I would suggest finding a RAWS site to see actual weather near where you hunt.

I opt for NOAA 99% of the time for weather. They aren't trying to sell milk or bread. That said, where I hunt most of the time, thermals factor more heavily than the wind forecast.
I wish I could get away with being as bad at my job as weather people... I miss Bill Hall. Sportsman and weather guy. Liked that dude...

NOAA and I check the forecast discussion posted by the meteorologist for forecasts.

Weather Channel and Carrot Weather apps for real time or hourly forecasts

Hunting Forecast pro for moon phases and sunrise/sunset times

Ahh. Like a lot of us, we take data, interpret it based on knowledge, model it, and arrive at a judgment call. In my day to day work life, I'm working to get to a "more likely than not." If it's a "will", that's extremely rare and why did you pay me to tell you what should be obvious?

Long range, I look at the models, primarily the GFS. Shorter range models HRRR and NAMNEST. Out to 7 days, the NWS has the most accurate forecasts, for highs, lows, wind.
