Just curious... how many birds have you seen in a single flock around this time of the year... just before they break up into the subgroups and before the breeding groups?

Mine is 297 birds in one flock on my property. Back in 1998 before the population nose-dived.

past year or 2 the biggest i have seen on the places i hunt is about 100-150. Same place I saw a flock 5 years ago of about 450. alot has changed on the property in 5 years though

A few years ago i saw a winter flock that was between 150 to 175 a few miles from my property. That was in the big fields on the left side of the road,.. there was another 50 to 75 on the right side of the road on a cleared hill.

The most I have ever seen at one time was 190 a few years back in Dyer Co. The most I have seen this year is 90 in one flock and that was on state ground. ;) I have a flock of 80 that I have been watching on the land that I hunt the last few days.

I used to see a couple hundred in the river bottoms of our old farm almost every time I went down there. It's a shame I didn't decide to start turkey hunting until after we sold the place. :(
