whats the chances?

Depends on if he's wounded or not, at 15 yards it's hard to just pepper one.

Depends on the bird frankly, I've killed them before that I missed one on the same day just a few hours later. Others I never heard again.

He may be dead.

I had one run/fly off one time. I was sick. I walked the direction he went and started checking thorn bushes, etc.

I faintly saw the tip of one tail feather, in the middle of one of the bushes. He had buried himself in the middle of it and expired.

Hopefully, yours made it. Also, when that close, you may want to aim at the base of the neck.

If he lived he is killable. The bird my dad killed Sunday had been shot with Hevi-shot. Sometime since opening morning. The breast had several shot in it and part of it had turned green.

All you can do is hope he made it. If he did, you can catch him in the right mood and kill him. Nothing aggressive, just a little light soft calling and I'd keep it to a minimum. I've killed 2 public land birds in the past with pellets in their chest from previous run ins with other hunters.
