I know everybody talks about how far they've killed a turkey. Ok, how close have you killed one? The closest I've ever killed one was 20 yards.

Why isn't this more impressive anyway? Isn't this what it's all about? Getting close?

20 yards for me but it was a jake. I did call a longbeard up to 20 for my son.
I love gettin' em in close.

I have had a bearded hen walk by me where I could have touched her with the gun barrel....

Killed my closest at 16 steps.

I was set up under an ledge and had a gobbler come all the way down a mountain and I killed him on that ledge at 5 yards # 6 shot modified choke.. That was my first turkey. That day I learned you need to set up where a gobbler cant see your setup. I would hate to try a shot at that range with my mossberg 835 extra full choke and hevi shot magnublends!

My very first bird...about 8 yards if the winchester turkey shell would have not been a dud... instead it was about 20 yards by the time I smacked my O/U to set the second trigger so i could get off a shot..

7 feet. I sat up in a little patch of honey suckle looking down a logging road where a bird was gobbling. Well of course they got behind me (it turned out to be two of them), gobbled 10 yards away 180 degrees from my gun barrel and came back into the logging road on the wrong side. The afore mentioned honey suckle had me blocked, so i had to wait until they cleared it, at which point i could see steam coming out of there beaks when they breathed.

8 yards for me.

On one occasion i was calling for someone and wasnt carrying a gun, i was setup probably 50 yards behind him with the bird in front of us. The bird eventually worked all the way around behind me and walked to within touching distance beside me and belted out 3 gobbles. I thought my ear drums were going to bust.

around 10 yards. couldnt see him until he came around a thick green thicket.

Probably 15 - 20 yards on one I killed a couple of years back on a foggy morning with drizzling rain. He had some jakes with him and they came by so close I could have hit them with my gun barrel. He was close too but I couldn't move. The jakes putted and he turned and started to trot off but wasn't quick enough.

callled one up a hill right after fly down time , he topped ridge with in @ 4 yds of me ....long beard 10.75 in beard ....
