Between a 3" & 3-1/2" shell....Lets say in a #4 remington.....

Is there more powder or just more shot? Is the difference worth a sore shoulder? ( I guess that answer is up to me :))...

I have 2 boxes of 3-1/2" and 2 boxes of 3".....

its just more pellets really. Some like the added pellet count others dont feel the need due to the price and soreness.

I shot 3.5 for a long time but went back to 3's 2 years ago. Will never shoot 3.5 again but thats just me. I didnt have any noticeable difference in my pattern count between the 2 as well.

it makes u more of a man if u shoot 3.5's....

naw.. ive never shot 3's.

heck, id shoot 4's if they made em and theyd fit in my chamber

seriously tho, it should say how many oz. of shot somewhere on the box id think

I hate shooting 3" shells. Shooting 3.5" really sucks, but I do get another 1/4 oz of shot.

Many guns pattern 3's better than 3.5's.

x2 and your gun only shoots 3 inch lol

hahahahahah true but i still have my 870....although i may need to start working out again if i want to start carrying it...that thing is like carrying an anvil in comparison to the stoeger.

well by my math (which is an Auburn education so cant guarantee anything) at $5 a week for 52 weeks = $260 a year

so in 5.79 years I will have enough to get one. then it will take me another year to afford the shells and choke for it hahahah

2017 is going to be a GOOD year

I bought an 835 the first year they came out with the ported barrel and shot 2 boxes of 3.5's trying to pattern it before I finally figured out the barrel was bent! True story! I've had a phobia ever since of 3.5's. Not sure the extra 1/4oz of lead is worth the flinch factor but I'll probably shoot 'em again with my current 835. It's got a 28" barrel (backup duck gun) that may help a fraction with recoil due to a little extra weight. I've shot both 3's and 3.5's in the past with success though. Get'm in there about 40-45yds and trust me he won't know the difference! :D

A lot of it is just marketing, very prevailent theme in hunting "Bigger is Better." The thrill of turkey hunting is calling one in to 30 yards or less, then it really doesn't matter because you can kill him with a 2 3/4 at that range.

I am a simple kind of guy. I want as many pellets going at the birds head as I can get. This is why I shoot 3 1/2s .

X2 and i really can't tell much difference in the kick like most people talk about anyways! they both rattle my teeth!

more shot, been using the same 3" mossberg 500 for 20 something years now. havent ever needed a 3.5" for turkeys, or one of those $1000 shotguns for that matter.
