It looks like Friday will be the first decent day in a while to hunt here in Middle TN. That is with regards to the weather, with no rain and little wind.

Here's the situation, and the two options I am considering. I have to drop my daughter off at the babysitter at 6:00 am so the earliest I can make it to the woods is 6:30. Also, I have some work that I have to get done before I pick up my daughter at 3:00 pm.

Should I:

Option 1 - Drop my daughter off and hunt from 6:30 to 10:00 am.

or

Option 2 - Drop my daughter off, get my work done and hunt from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

What would you do?

depends on the inknown factor, which is how is the nesting situation looking for hens. monday the turkeys wouldnt come to me in the morning which is when i have the most luck, but later in the afternoon they all came fightin eachother when i called. honestly id say around 9 is when they start looking for other hens and comng to calls better lately. id go 10-2

I have seen more from early morning till around noon, so I'd vote for 6:30 till 10am personally. Especially if you are hunting Yanahli. There was one strutting with 3 hens before 8am on Sunday and he had already come through the woods a distance to my calls across the field.

I too will be hunting Friday on the WMA. Was going tomorrow but can't make it work, so most likely I will get out on Friday.

all really depends on your area....if the land you hunt holds the birds during the day then mid day is hard to beat but can be very quite at times. Morning is just always fun as you will hear more gobbling (should atleast) but your success factor may be decreased if they are still have hens.

So, which did you decide?

Circumstances beyond my control dictated that I hunt the early morning. There were no birds gobbling in the area I started the morning at so I moved to a new area, did a little scouting, and found some promising sign for next week.
