A certain percentage of bucks are range shifters and use a completely different rut range than where they usually live. I'm always have a couple that disappear mid Oct then show back up in January as well

My brother used to call them "Deer Cong" when they just disappeared like that. He figured they were like the Viet Cong in the Vietnam War... He'd say "I think they tunnel underground... and then just pop up out of nowhere just like the Viet Cong did". LOL.

I miss 'ol Jay. RIP my little brother.
