Whew... finally.

I could write a book over the past 3 days hunting taking friends. 18 miles, 3 missed birds, but we finally connected. 3 trips back to the house to dry clothes and change boots and socks. I think I've had 7 LB and 8 Jake's within 40 yards since Fri eve. Finally got one to follow my best laid script and present an easy shot for my friend.

3 yo. 7/8in spurs, 11in beard, 21.5lbs.

Birds are actually now WAY ahead of schedule with multiple hens bred and leaving the flocks completely. Craziest season I've ever seen. Had 2 bachelor groups of multiple Tom's and Jake's come in.

I'll try to put the story of the weekend up later, need to put birds on roost for tomorrow and then a glass of whiskey after this day. But pressure is off.... I love hunting with friends, but I'm so much more inefficient taking others.

I've posted a couple of times in the last week about noticing hens walking off and leaving gobblers vulnerable...I'm seeing what you have been seeing and its wierd. I kid you not, a week ago I had 25-30 hens in a wad aggravating me. A few days later it was half that. Yesterday it was 2-3.

Fine bird though man...well done and congrats to yer bud.

Tks.... yes was in TN.... just got back to MS. I'll make a post of the whole trip in the next couple days. Lots of musty, stinky, and muddy clothes to wash. Hunted hard from 5am till dark every day, so didnt have time to post much, as I was in bed around 9 to 930 each night.

Hey man, did you fall off the wagon? I've been waiting for the rest of the story all week. :)
 
Lol, I started the story of the weekend trip, but deleted it a tenth of the way through. There just aren't words to describe the number of unreal hunts we had. The toms won most of them, others with egg in my face, and a handful of battles we won. I didnt figure anyone would want to read such a long winded post, so I gave up and trashed it :)
