White Flash versus IR

I noticed that several folks recommended the "Stu" Camera from FiremanJim. I was wondering, is the reason one would go with white flash versus IR based solely on cost or is there some other advantages to white flash?

If you like color night time pics then thats an upside for ya, but idk of any major advantages of white flash over ir

The pic. quality is just so much better with white flash.

Cannot stand the IR,not any difference in deer behavior they spook sometimes on both.
I have took their pictures so many times they think they are movie stars

IR does have one advantage too though. If your camera is going to be in a place where a white flash can be seen from the road or something, the flash could let people know a camera is there and someone might want to go steal it. With IR you wouldn't have to worry about that.
