I hunt most of the each season with my dad. He is 74 now. We both travel to hunt with another gentleman in middle TN quite a bit, who is also in his early 70s. My dad gets around quite a bit better than the other fellow, but the will is still there, so I try to get him the best position.

Anyway, in talking with a co-worker yesterday, I knew that her father-in-law was a serious turkey hunter, and I asked her if he was getting ready for the opener. She said that he was, and then I asked her how old he is now.

Her reply .............................................. 83! And he still goes solo most of the time, as far as I know.

If I'm alive at that age, I sure hope I can still get out and chase these things!

I know a feller in his early 70's don't know the exact age but he goes solo almost all season been getting it done for years and years. Hope I can still do it at that age.

We had a guy that was 91 in our lease. He really was past wanting to go but he went with his son who was in his 70's. They basically sat in shooting houses and waited on them. They father has since passed on but the son still goes.

Mid to late 70s but shucks he might be 80 now that I think about it. He's more of a sit n wait rather than run n gun type after a severe battle with rheumatoid arthritis but he still gets after it every spring.

One of my high school buddy's dad is 70ish and a flat out turkey killing machine. He always tells me and others "I can't keep up with you young guys in the turkey woods" and chuckles, knowing all along, nothing could be further from the truth. He was somewhat of a mentor to me and definitely someone I looked up to all of my life as far as hunting goes. All of the old heads around my parts rave about how pure of a turkey hunter he is, was and has been for the last 40+ years.

LOL.... :D In all seriousness, Setter hails from the east end of the state and this gentleman is from SW TN, although I bet they have a lot in common and do a lot of the same things in the turkey woods.
