I am not a fan of them but I think my son will using one this weekend. It seems to help him hold more steady. What types of scopes do most people use.

I just switched to a Leupold 2x7x33 with the turkey plex recticle. I haven't shot a bird using it yet but I can tell you it was alot easier to shoot when I patterned it. Plenty of eye relief so you don't have to worry about the scope hitting you in the face. Put the turkey plex recticle around his head & neck, then drop the hammer!!

i got a bushnell 1.5 x 4.5 x 32 sportsman. i like it alot. its got a 4.5" eye relief that i was kinda scared of, but ive shot 3" and 3.5" shells and the scope hasnt come close to hitting me. a red dot would probably be better for a young shooter, but i dont like them as well.

I had one on my first gun but sold it with the gun. After missing a couple of birds due to the fact that I think I was raising up I put one back on the 835. It is a 1 or 1.5x B-square combo from Bass Pro that has the mount, rings, and scope ready to go. It was $89.99 two years ago.

Don't have one and not a fan....what if you have a strutter coming in and he puts and is running from you it would be alot harder to find a turkey in a scope than put the bead out there for him.....JMO.....if I woulda had a scope on my 835 It might have costed me my biggest bird to date I had to shoot him on the run!!! :)

See thru rings brother.... or use instinct shooting....

I've never used one, I like my double beaded sights on my old mossberg. Dont have to worry about bumping my sights or anything when I'm having to put the sneak on one.

agree.

The best way IMO if you still ahve good eyes is the cheapest.

Use the mid-bead on your shotgun and not worry about knocking sights off, your red dot batteries being dead, or your scoped getting bumped.

Right now im just shooting the plain ole bead on my 870 supermag.

I believed all the negatives about a scope on my turkey gun for years and stayed with the tru glo sights. After the 3rd set came off going through a briar patch, I said there has got to be something better. I put a scope on 3 years ago and never been happier.

I do. I have shot them running and even flying with it. with 1x-4x you can make it do what you want. On 1x it is very easy to shoot running and flying birds. You can get your shotgun dead on just like a rifle.

I agree completely with you and it also helps take the guess work out of the longer shots such as 40 plus . I have a simmons pro diamond with the turkeyplex in a 1 to 5 power. I have not missed yet! ( Huh Oh,probably should not have said that, jinxed myself!)

I use them and wouldn`t go back for nothing. You can center up your pattern so much better, and on 1.5 power you have plenty field of view. I can see the tip of the barrel on 1.5, so much for not able to shoot running shots. I had a bird coming up a hollow a few years back, and stopped halfway up my side. His head was in the fork of a dogwood. I`d never been able to tell without the sight, and drilled him. You`ll kill way more birds than it hurting your chance by all means.
