you might break the 23 lb mark this year, at least if you kill one earlyAndy S.":2k4he7nz said:I weigh just about everyone I kill for a few reasons. For one, I like to know the approximate weight and second, I like to "guess" the weight by holding it and see how close I am to the weight on the scale (kind of calibrate my mind if you will). When I weigh one, I use Rapala 50 lb digital fish scales. With that said, I have yet to see one break the 23 pound mark and very few break the 21 pound mark, with most being 18.5 to 20.5. I hunt in southwest and southern middle Tennessee for the most part. I do not keep a written log.
Not true, you have to "input a weight" during check out. You can either weigh them or you can "guess" like 95% of the hunters do. I'd bet there are more 20 pound turkeys checked in each year than any other weight. I wonder why....catman529":36lht9hs said:...so I have to weigh them.
I wouldn't bet on it. If I do, I will take a picture of the scale hanging on a limb with turkey hanging from the scale. I have broke the 23# mark in the past, but it was only a handful of times and it was with an old school fish scale (not the newer digital models).catman529":44ynoesp said:you might break the 23 lb mark this year, at least if you kill one early
it has always said "do not guess" next to the weight boxAndy S.":2rs6cqs9 said:Not true, you have to "input a weight" during check out. my biggest two birds were 21-something, until this year I shot a 2 year old on opening day weighing 23-9. I hunt the same public hardwoods/cedars/crp w/ a few ag fields. The 23 lber was mostly hardwood, cedar, CRP and river bottom dwelling without much agriculture nearby.Andy S.":3qitwi93 said:I wouldn't bet on it. Take my word for it, the majority of hunters DO GUESS. I promise you. They pick the turkey up, hold it out from their body, and say "he fills about 20" and they input 20.catman529":1hozjntk said:it has always said "do not guess" next to the weight box
It also says 70 mph on the interstate but how many people do it?catman529":1bo6dj5e said:it has always said "do not guess" next to the weight boxAndy S.":1bo6dj5e said:Not true, you have to "input a weight" during check out.
