Although I am not liking the temperature this weekend, my seven year old and I will be heading out somewhere for him to chase birds for the first time. I have the youth 870 20 that he bought with his own money sighted in with a red dot scope and ready to go. I am still not sure where we are going to go as I don't have an easy place terrain wise for a kid, but we will figure something out. He is pumped and ready either way.

Good luck and stay warm to all going this weekend.

I am going to take my nephew somewhere. It will be his first turkey hunt. Not to excited about the weather myself. Wish I had a private farm to take him to but if not, I will probably end up @ Hayley Jaqueth.

Taking my 10 yo daughter and my 9 yo nephew on public land.
I've taken grown men to this spot and they won't go back cause the terrain. Hunt the part you can and if the bird cones in it will be a bonus. Believe it or not the kids will love just going.

My 11 yr old daughter and I will be there. Taking her a sleeping bag and buddy heater for the blind!

Do y'all think the weather will turn off the birds, or just make it uncomfortable to hunt?

Yup I take the same family every year. I'm on the 4th son now and have gotten a bird for the other 3 already. Each one I was there for the first which was cool.

My son is a year or 2 away so I just take others till he is ready.

I'll be busy taking 3 different kids all of which will be a first Turkey if we can get done. But no matter what to be able to be in the woods teaching the kids will be fun.

And ren yes just being a part of someone's first turkey is something special. I've been lucky enough to experience this a few times and it something I'll never forget. Hope to experience more in the coming years.

I'm taking a kid for the St Jude Hunting For a Cure fund raiser we have here every year. If any of you guys ever want to come to Hardin County and participate they would love to have more guides. We usually take around 70 kids and have guides come from as far away as Pennsylvania. Hunting land is usually provided, just need people to take the kids hunting. Great group of people.

Might be interested in that next year! Good organization. Sounds like a great time!

X2. Would love to be a part of something like that.

Taking a deployed Soldier's son out this weekend, for his first turkey hunt. I may be a tad bit more excited then he is and can't wait to see his face light up when he hears his first gobble. Hoping the weather doesn't keep them from being vocal.

I was wondering if you were still around?

Still in the area, tried calling you a few days ago. Having trouble getting a youth model 20 patterned and was going to pick your brain...
