Just got this one sent to me from the farm back home. I included one of him from last year. Sure cant wait to get into the TN deer to take me mind off those corn/bean fed giants.

Yeah my old hunting party keeps sending me pictures of the ones they have. I'm pretty sure they are just collecting them and teasing me saying they are coming from 2 of the stands I left for them up there.

Where in WI did you hunt? I hunted 180 acres near between Pound and Crivitz.

I hunt my 200 acre family farm about 20 minutes west of Madison. It is right in the middle of the CWD Eradication Zone so the hunting was pretty tough for a couple years. We actually had a shortage of doe on the farm. So when the rut would kick off, the bucks would disappear. Being so close to Madison, there are a lot of anit-hunters so the deer tend to hang on their land and come to ours to feed. But the last 2-3 years we have put in some clover food plots to keep them around and we have a lot of doe staying year round. The herd is really balanced right now so the rutting activity has been unreal the last two years.

The one I posted before was going to be at the top of my hit list. And this one might have got shot last year, but we are holding out hope that he is still running around.

I had friends in our(my old job) corporate office hunt out that way, just south of the Dells. They hated "earn a buck" more than I did I think.

Even way up by the UP we've seen a drastic drop in deer numbers, we're guessing due to increased bear, wolf and coyote populations. And last I heard the DNR was reducing the number of bear tags being issued. I had a small black bear walk in on my after I shot a 8 pointer on archery opener last year, my last WI deer. He came down the same trail as the buck did, and we had atleast 6 different ones on different cameras, we all were just waiting to earn the points to stick one.

Good luck on those big WI bucks, some day I hope to hunt up there again after hunting TN it's only made me a better deer hunter. Finding them is tough in the hills and hollers around here.
