Probably wild turkeys that are just used to seeing people and vehicles. I was in Nashville the other day and there were a few longbeards strutting in the middle of the road in a huge neighborhood. They were just a few feet from my truck and they didn't pay me any attention at all.

I worked with a lady that had nice size farm. She had a tame turkey that used to attack her every morning and afternoon when she went to feed the chickens and ducks. Well she finally got tired of it and asked me to "take car of" her tame turkey.. She said she was going to leave the house around 9 tom morning and would be back around 12. Said for me to do something and she didnt want to know how... Well next morning I showed up at 9:15, walked into the yard, and here he came all bowed up.. I let him get about 20 yrds before he got a load of Supreme #5s from the Browning Silver... Bird weighed like 35 lbs and had 9.5 inch thick beard and 3/4 spurs. pure white... She thanked me except for the massive blood pile it left...

Just puzzles me because this was close to a river bottom and no houses around for several mile in any direction.

Based on those two photos alone, I can promise you they are not acting like a really skittish wild turkey that has been hunted. Furthermore, if they are in my backwards, backwoods, redneck county, they are probably "dead" turkeys by now. If they will allow you to stop your vehicle that close and snap a pic, and not spook (won't even come out of strut), they won't last long regardless of what their lineage is.

All those woods behind them and they were up next to the paved road.......hmmm......maybe they were wanting someone to feed them.......again. :stir: :-D

I don't know if I want to get into turkey hunting or not. How do you know if you're shooting someone's pet or a wild bird .I sure don't want explain to a judge why i killed someone's prize turkey that they won 3 blue ribbons at the county fair with last year!

^^^^if you think it's a yard bird/pet turkey, move on and don't shoot it. There are PLENTY of wild ones out there that will make you wish you could get a shot opportunity at them. Those are the fun ones that make you want it more and more with each passing day. Good luck starting turkey hunting, it's a ton of fun once you have some successes, and failures, with a true 100% wild turkey.

Dont worry about it, someone's prize turkey isn't gonna be off in the woods where you hunt, and if it is, then too bad. Highly unlikely

I'm not going to let that stop me, I've spent way to much to turn back now.Im fired up can't wait to squeeze the trigger on my first turkey.
