Will TSS 9s...

Probably. I've killed one with the old remington hevi shot number 5 or 6 several years ago, shot him in the face about thirty yards.
I've also killed one with longbeard 6s at about 25 yards by shooting him in the shoulder area because he was running past me. He hollered and whined and ran in circles for a few seconds before dying.

I don't yet have firsthand experience with TSS 9s
but can't imagine their not killing a coyote with a neck shot out to at least 40 yards.

All it takes for the coyote to die
is likely only a single #9 pellet to nick his carotid artery.
He may run off for 200 yards, but he's going to die.

Similar can be said if a single pellet breaks into the intestines,
also highly likely out to at least 40 yards.
You'll likely never find him, but he should die.

I'd have less confidence in a head shot with a shotgun unless extremely close range.

Good to know for sure. Just about every spring I get a good shot at a yote...sometimes 2. Downsizing to the 20 and wanted to be sure.

I shot one in the face with #6 lead at 15 yards and it knocked it down for a minute then the yote started breathing again. So I stomped on its neck and it started howling. Had to finish it with the knife. I've killed two with lead loads, and both had to be dispatched. I'm sure tss will hit em harder but dang they are tuff

I hit one with a 12ga @ 20 yards and a load full of hevishot...he dropped like a bag of hammers

The cost of TSS has certainly given me hesitation about flinging them at coyotes.

But I'm sure #9s would do the job. They are supposed to have same penetration as #4 lead, and I've killed a pile of yoties with my 10g and #5 lead out to 40 yards.

Shot one with lead 5s a couple years ago. 2 oz (maybe more) in a 3.5 incher.
I think* the first two did the job but I went ahead and gave him the 3rd shot because I didn't want to fool with a half dead, full pissed off coyote.

Sorry no firsthand with tss but I can't believe it wouldn't take care of it. It would hurt to send that much money at an ol coyote, but I think I'd have to let it fly anyway.

I don't shoot coyotes often while hunting other things, but if I were to do it with a turkey load past 20 yards I think I would aim double-lung broadside. He'll likely run off, but put 500 tungsten pellets into his chest cavity and he'll tip over dead pretty quick.

I say this because I've shot one in the head with a shotgun and left him there for an hour or two thinking he was dead only to walk up on him and realize he was paralyzed, slowly dying, and gasping air. I'm happy to kill one, but nobody wants to do it like that. Unless I'm shooting a load tailored for breaking coyote sized skulls, I'm shoot for the ribcage. And I'd watch him run off, and be perfectly confident that he'll tip over dead in a few seconds.

Shot one in the head/neck area at 50+ yards last season with a 2.5oz load of 8.5s. It ran about 40 yards and started kicking circles. Shot it again with a field load to finish off and end suffering.

Stoned another one at about 25 yards with a broadside shoulder shot.
