My son is wanting to get away from a scope on his 870. Do they make a sight especially for a Remington vent rib? Unless I overlooked it they only have a universal that will fit a Remington. Are they sturdy once you get them set? Is there a better rifle sight out there? Thanks for any input.

Have them on my 870 super mag, fit is great and very durable sight. Mounting is not the easiest as they are designed to be universal and you have to select the correct screw hole. Also the screws are small and difficult to hold. I wasn't happy about mounting the sights but once I did the performance has been fantastic. If he goes this route, let me know and I'll try to see which screw hole I used.

^^^ I've used that sight 15 years or so and it's never let me down. I'm not one to coddle my turkey gun either. I've never owned a Williams, so can't comment, but have always read/heard good stuff about them.

I have one of these mounted on a 870 rib and have killed some birds with it: http://www.cabelas.com/catalog/product. ... Collection

I haven't had any issues with the sight, and really like it. The rear sight works like a receiver sight where your eye automatically centers the dot. I usually carry a gun with a scope on it, but continue to keep this gun set up for rainy days with this sight system.

I had the same experience. If the gun is a dedicated turkey gun so that you'll put them on and leave them, these would be great. If you will be removing and reinstalling them for different seasons, then you would be better off to look for something else.

Also, these are really great if you need to fine tune the pattern.
