Any of y'all got one of these? I'm looking for a well rounded shotgun. I was looking at getting another SXP but the Super X3 caught my eye. The price is at the high end of my budget, but I'm really like the idea of having a semi-auto that can reliably cycle 2 3/4" - 3 1/2". What experiences have y'all had? Any cycling issues?

You won't find anyone with a bad thing to say about them. Definitely one of the better options out there and was #2 on my list when I bought my benelli.

Great balance and shoulders well, has operated and feels lighter then it actually is. With a decent choke it makes a great turkey gun.

Awesome. Thanks a lot. Turkey and dove are what I'd hunt the most with it, but I'd like to venture into duck hunting one day. It's just too intimidating trying to understand some of the laws pertaining to ducks.

I had one for about 4 months, loved the over feel of the gun and the way it shouldered. It shot heavy loads real well. But after a few trips to the skeet range and numerous jams with light target loads (most will say this is expected for a 3.5 chambered gun), I traded it in for a Versa max. It will eat anything you put in it. If I'm gonna spend in the range of 1k $ for a shotgun it better shoot any shell I put in it...just my experience.

I am a benelli guy so I'd recommend the SBE2 first but like I said the SX3 is a great shotgun.

I will say though you really need to go handle one and make sure it fits. Benellis fit me great but some like berettas don't fit me AT ALL! Just be sure to handle all the ones you like and get the one that fits you best

I had a 12 gauge SX3 but didn't like it because of the Duratouch, other than that it was a good gun. Only kept it for a couple months. I got a new 20 gauge SX3 this fall to duck hunt with and am very impressed with it. Ren got it right when he said it feels lighter than it is.

I had no problems with 1 ounce 1165 FPS loads in the 12 gauge and it was chambered for 3.5's

BTW, the new ones don't have Duratouch...

Guess I got a lemon!!! Either way I'm more than happy with the Versa max. Got a buddy shoots a Maxus pretty much the same as an Sx3 he loves it never had a problem.

Well, I'm looking at the Universal Hunter. The Versa Max in another option but that's only if I can find it at the right price. The SX3 really hits the top of my budget and as much as I would LOVE to have a SBE2 I just know I can't swing it. Some of the smaller target loads I have read that have caused problems are the winchester shells, but that seems to be across the board on the lower end autoloaders. I typically shoot federal and estate for my target loads and they seem to cycle fairly well from what I've read. I just wanted to back some of the reviews up with down in the trenches experience. If I needed a second shot on a dove (which I typically do lol) I just want to make sure this thing will perform.

SX3 is an excellent gun from top to bottom...Lots of high end guns have trouble cycling 1oz loads. I prefer 1 1/8oz loads for dove so its not an issue for me. I also prefer an inertia driven gun, although they may have a little more felt recoil, its been my experience they cycle more reliably.
Stoeger 3500 is also an excellent gun for the price..

Go with the SX3. All the late model Remington autoloaders are made from cheaper grade steel and won't hold a candle to the older ones.

Versamax is far from being made with cheap grade steel. Trust me there's a budget for everything but if you get the waterfowl addition, which some might not feel needed, but I do cause mine spends most of its time in a duck blind and bouncing around in a boat, they have Nickel Teflon plated internal components, simply will not rust. But back to what the man was sayin he is on a budget and if the Sx3 makes him happy that's what he should get. They are great guns I just didn't like that mine wouldn't cycle cheap light loads reliably like my buddies versamax did so I traded mine, only auto loader I've ever had where I can take a Winchester whie box 7/8 oz, follow it with a 3" steel shot and a 3.5 turkey load with now issues at all.

Thanks a lot for all the input guys. Here in the next couple of weeks I'll make my down to the gun store and start doing some comparisons. Thanks again

I have been shooting a SX3 since they came out. Before that I shot a SX2. In my opinion (this is just me) but, the SX3 is the best gun out there. The main reason I say that is because it fits me. I have a SBEII in the safe and it is a fabulous gun but, it doesn't fit me as well and I cannot shoot it as good as I can my SX3. My second favorite gun is my Benelli M2. I generally shoot between 4-5 cases of 3 inch through my SX3 every year and I have never had one issue with it. The only negative I guess I could say about the SX3 is that it is definitely finicky with light loads. I bought some cheap federals for a dove hunt and it had problems feeding them. I purchased some Winchesters and it never hiccup'd again. As other people have said, you really need to shoulder it and make sure that it fits you before you make a decision on any gun. If I were in the market for a new semi auto I would shoulder the SX3, The new Beretta, SBEII, M2 and the A5. Good luck and give us a report on what you choose.

Like SX3Mike, I shot a X2 for ever....just wore that thing out. It was my main scatter gun and I used it for everything, no telling how many rounds I put through it from dove to duck! I purchased the X3 in MOB when they came out and have been very pleased except for the duratouch, skeeter dope will deteriorate the finish and it will start peeling. I had it dipped again and have not had any problems what so ever.
I have not had any issue's with cycling from any loads but I try to keep mine as clean as possible, that includes taking the stock off and cleaning inside the stock and the spring. You would be amazed at all the grit and grime that collects in there and makes a world of difference in the cycling.
It is primarily my turkey gun now as I have a Browning Silver that is my wing shooter. I am pleased with both the X3 and Silver and would recommend either of them.
